No doubt the format will change - this is only the beginning.
For instance, the list below could be (should be?) links to and brief descriptions of these distros.

You can help completing the list below with more links and brief descriptions of the distros. Please don't add any distro that is not especially optimized. Dyne.org follows certain quality standards in the software that it does, so this list should link only to third-party software that somehow matches those standards. If you are wondering, Ubuntu and Knoppix do not match: they are too bloated and require latest expensive hardware to run.

 * Zomp
 * yopi
 * Kaella (french Knoppix)
 * Slax (lightweight good distro )
 * Simple Mepis (never tested ... one of the most popular)
 * Oralux (for visually impaired)
 * Ubuntu live (open source with money popular distro)
 * Mandriva Live
 * pit3PEER on http://lab.dyne.org/pit3PEER

This distro works great on my Quicksilver Dual g4. The installer even automagically configured the "Yaboot" portion that sets up the dual boot between OSX and Linux.
 * Slax (slack)
 * Simple Mepis (deb)
 * GRML (geeky!)
 * Crunchbang (uber geeky!)

  • tomsrtbt (old school minimalistic distro)
  • puppy linux (best for old hardware)
  • Damn Small Linux ( damn small knoppix with modules , great!!!)
